“Centenary of the First Hungarian Post Car” collector coin
On 15 September 2005 the National Bank of Hungary issued a cupro-nickel collector coin “Centenary of the First Hungarian Post Car” with a face value of HUF 500.
On the obverse of the coin with the shape of a square stood on its tip the wheel of a post car is shown, and within it are the date of minting “2005” and the mintmark “BP.” On the reverse there is a depiction of the post car.
The coin was designed by the applied artist Balázs Bitó.
The coin was made of cupro-nickel (75% copper, 25% nickel), weighs 14 grams, and has a size of 28.43 mm x 28.43 mm and a smooth edge.
15,000 coins may be struck, of which 10,000 are produced by the special “proof” technology.
The coin may be purchased from the Hungarian Mint Ltd. (Budapest, Könyves Kálmán körút 38) or from the shop in the National Bank of Hungary’s Visitor Centre (Budapest, Szabadság tér 8/9). The coin is available at face value for three months from its date of issue.
