On 11 April, 2005. on the occasion of the centenary of József Attila’s birth the Magyar Nemzeti Bank issued a commemorative variation of the HUF 10 circulation coin in 27 000 copies. The front side of the commemorative coin is the same as that of the HUF 10 circulation coins, on the reverse side, however, the portrait of József Attila is depicted. On the left and right sides of the portrait the dates of József Attila’s birth and death, „1905” and „1937” can be seen.
The coin was made of an alloy of copper (75%) and nickel (25%), weighing 6.10 grams, with a diameter of 24.8 mm, with an interrupted milled edge.
15 thousand coins of extra quality were prepared for the 2005 circulation coin series of special design. 12 thousand coins will be put into circulation in ornate packaging with serial numbers.
The coins with serial numbers can be purchased at Hungarian Mint Ltd. (Könyves Kálmán körút 38), as well as in the shop of the Visitors’ Center of the Magyar Nemzeti Bank (Budapest, Szabadság tér 8/9.). Hungarian Mint Ltd. will start selling the 2005 circulation coin series containing the HUF 10 József Attila coins in June 2005.
