On May 19th 2005 the Hungarian National Bank issued a silver collector coin with a nominal value of HUF 5,000, to mark the 150th anniversary of Ignác Alpár’s birth.
On the face of the coin is the Hungarian National Bank building, while Ignác Alpár’s portrait can be seen on the reverse side.
The coin was designed by the sculptor Mihály Fritz.
The coin’s has a .925 fine silver content, with a weight of 31.46 grams, a diameter of 38.61mm, and a milled edge.
The number of collector coins was set at 6,000, out of which 3,000 were made with a special technique known as proof technology.
Interested customers may purchase the coins from the Hungarian Mint at 38 Könyves Kálmán körút, as well as at the Visitor Centre of the Hungarian National Bank (8/9 Szabadság Square, Budapest). The coin can be purchased at its nominal value for three months after its date of issue.
