The centre of the obverse of the commemorative coin bears a representation of the old foundry established by Ábrahám Ganz, with a rail wheel produced using the chill-casting technology, patented by Ganz, in the foreground. The inscription on the façade of the building below the chimneys reads ‘ALAPÍTVA: 1844’. A legend on the upper edge of the obverse reads ‘MAGYARORSZÁG’, with the mint year ‘2014’ and the mint mark ‘BP’ appearing parallel with the left edge. The value numeral ‘2000’ and the inscription ‘FORINT’ are positioned in two horizontal lines, on the right of the rail wheel. The reverse of the collector coin bears a half-length portrait of Ábrahám Ganz on the right, with the initials of designer Balázs Bitó to the right of the portrait. To the left of the portrait, the inscriptions in horizontal lines placed below each other read ‘GANZ’ and ‘ÁBRAHÁM’. The coin is inscribed with ‘1814 – 1867’, parallel with the left edge of the coin The square shaped collector coin is made from 75% copper and 25% nickel and weighs 14 grams. Its size is 28.43 mm x 28.43 mm and it has a smooth edge. The mintage limit of the silver collector coin is 10,000 pieces, of which 6,000 can be produced in proof finish. The Ganz collector coin is the ninth in the square shaped coin series presenting the technical innovations and inventions of Hungarian engineers and inventors. The coin is distributed by the Hungarian Mint Ltd. It will be on sale from 6 November 2014 at a price equal to its face value (HUF 2,000) at the coin shop of the Mint (Budapest, V. ker., Hold u. 17.) and in the Mint’s webshop (http://penzvero.hu/), where a number of collector coins produced from gold, silver and non-ferrous metals issued earlier, are also on sale.
