The institutions which are eligible to use central bank instruments are called central bank counterparties. With the exception of quick tenders, all institutions (such as domestic banks, specialised and cooperative credit institutions) subject to reserve requirements are included in the list of the MNB’s eligible counterparties, provided they meet the technical requirements of the operations:
- They are direct members of the Hungarian real-time gross settlement system (VIBER) or direct members of the Interbank Clearing System (BKR),
- in the case of collateralised loans and securities transactions they have a securities account with KELER Zrt.
