The MNB accepts deposits and provides loans to credit institutions in Hungary against appropriate collateral in the context of its account management activities, in the course of its core tasks as defined in Article 18 a) of the MNB Act. In order to achieve its monetary policy objectives and to support the banking sector’s liquidity management tasks, the MNB makes regular and occasional use of the forint market elements of its monetary policy toolkit. In order to manage excess forint liquidity, it may conduct deposit tenders and quick tenders, and, in order to increase forint liquidity, it may conduct collateralised loan tenders or quick tenders with maturities appropriate to the objective pursued.
