Financial accounts of public corporations (owned by central and local government)
The data release show that, in the non-financial corporations sector, public corporations accounted for around 9 percent of the sector's non-consolidated balance sheet total and equity liabilities at the end of 2021. In terms of financial assets, the share of public non-financial corporations increased significantly to over 10 percent. In 2022, MÁV Zrt. was reclassified from the non-financial corporations sector to the general government going back to 2019 Q1, which had a significant downward effect on the changes in real assets and the balance sheet total. At HUF 42 billion, net borrowing of public non-financial corporations was low in 2021. The data, now published, provide further detailed information on the financial assets and liabilities of public financial and non-financial corporations.
In addition to annual accounts, in the case of non-financial corporations, quarterly aggregated balance sheets of larger public corporations are published regularly, covering around 90 percent of the sub-sector's balance sheet total. This publication is available here:
