The recently published data show, in particular, that in the non-financial corporation sector, both the financial assets and liabilities of public corporations increased by around 30 percent, exceeding the rate of inflation. This rise significantly outstripped the increase in the balance sheet total of non-public companies. In terms of transactions and revaluations, the most significant changes in stock were related to financial derivatives, which was fuelled by the sharp rise in energy prices in 2022. Public non-financial corporations' net borrowing reached 1.2 per cent of GDP in 2022, the highest seen in the last 10 years.
In addition to annual accounts, in the case of public non-financial corporations, quarterly aggregated balance sheets of larger corporations are published regularly, covering around 90 percent of the sub-sector's balance sheet total. This publication is available here:
