The 2024 Lámfalussy Award was presented to Christine Lagarde, President of the European Central Bank (ECB). Since assuming leadership of the ECB in 2019, Christine Lagarde has faced significant global challenges over the past decade. However, as a strong and decisive leader, she has responded to even the most complex crisis situations with the appropriate measures. Her vision prioritizes sustainability, innovation, and long-term growth, which are essential for addressing the challenges of the European economy.

Before being appointed President of the ECB in 2019, she served two consecutive terms as Managing Director of the International Monetary Fund (IMF) from 2011 to 2019. Prior to that, she was France’s Minister of Economics and Finance. Her influence and recognition are widely acknowledged—in 2022, Forbes ranked her as the second most powerful woman in the world, while TIME included her among the 100 most influential people globally.
